25 STREETLIFE PICTURES FROM HAMPI, INDIA
previous post
In this photography series I decided to focus on one frame and shoot whatever passes by. The result is 25 streetlife pictures showing the coming and going of the locals from Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the South-Indian state of Karnataka.
Once a major trading centre, Hampi is now a famed backpackers destination for its unique landscape and the many temples belonging to the medieval Hindu kingdom of Vijaynagar. This post won’t display the beauty of the well-crafted monuments, but will give you a glimpse of the coming and going of the people living there presently.
Sometimes life is best observed by simply sitting down somewhere along the street and to not move at all. Let time pass by and witness the beat of the city. It provides an unfiltered look of the locals going about their business and shows you life as it is.
While exploring Hampi I had some time to kill and out of boredom I started shooting the movement in front of me. The thing is, in India, the streetlife is very amusing. Even in the more smaller towns. It’s very common to see three people on a scooter or watch them transport whatever is needed to be moved. Here everything is possible.
